Brovana – (arformoterol) is a bronchodilator. It works by relaxing muscles in the airways to improve breathing.
Brovana inhalation is used to prevent bronchoconstriction in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Brovana will not treat a bronchospasm attack that has already begun.
Enbrel – (etanercept) works by decreasing a certain protein produced by the immune system. The immune system helps the body fight infections. In people with autoimmune disorders, the immune system mistakes the body’s own cells for invaders and attacks them.
Enbrel is used to treat the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, or ankylosing spondylitis
Enbrel is also used to treat plaque psoriasis in adults and polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis in children who are at least 2 years old.
Forteo (teriparatide) is a man-made form of parathyroid hormone that exists naturally in the body. Teriparatide increases bone mineral density and bone strength, which may prevent fractures. Forteo is used to treat osteoporosis caused by menopause, steroid use, or gonadal failure. Forteo is for use when you have a high risk of bone fracture due to osteoporosis.
Horizant – is a prescription medicine used to treat adults with moderate-to-severe primary Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS).
Horizant is not for people who need to sleep during the daytime and need to stay awake at night.
Horizant is not the same medicine as gabapentin (for example, Neurontin or Gralise) and should not be used in its place.
It is not known if Horizant is safe and effective in children
Humira – (adalimumab) reduces the effects of a substance in the body that can cause inflammation.
Humira is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, plaque psoriasis, and and a chronic skin condition called hidradenitis suppurativa. It is also used to treat Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, after other drugs have been tried without successful treatment of symptoms.
Orencia is used to treat the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, and to prevent joint damage caused by these conditions. It is also used to treat arthritis in children who are at least 6 years old.
Orencia is not a cure for any autoimmune disorder and will only treat the symptoms of your condition.
Otezla – (apremilast) inhibits an enzyme within your immune system that can affect certain cells and contribute to inflammation in the body.
Otezla is used to treat the symptoms of active psoriatic arthritis in adults.
Otezla can relieve tenderness and swelling in and around the joints, but this medicine is not a cure for psoriatic arthritis.
Otezla is also used to treat moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in people who may also receive phototherapy or other treatments for psoriasis.
Otrexup – (methotrexate injection) Methotrexate interferes with the growth of certain cells of the body, especially cells that reproduce quickly, such as cancer cells, bone marrow cells, and skin cells.
Praluent – (alirocumab) is a human monoclonal antibody. It works by helping the liver reduce levels of “bad” cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, or LDL) circulating in your blood.
Praluent is used together with a low-fat diet and a “statin” medication in people with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (an inherited type of high cholesterol). This condition can cause high blood levels of LDL cholesterol, and can also cause plaque to build up inside your arteries.
Praluent is also used to treat heart disease with plaque build-up in the arteries (atherosclerosis, sometimes called hardening of the arteries).
Prolia – (denosumab) is a monoclonal antibody. Monoclonal antibodies are made to target and destroy only certain cells in the body. This may help to protect healthy cells from damage.
The Prolia brand of denosumab is used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women who have high risk of bone fracture.
Prolia is also used to increase bone mass in women and men with a high risk of bone fracture caused by receiving treatments for certain types of cancer.
Rayos – (prednisone) is in a class of drugs called corticosteroids. Prednisone prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation.
Rayos is used to treat many different conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), ankylosing spondylitis (AS), asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Simponi – (golimumab) reduces the effects of a substance in the body that can cause inflammation.
Simponi is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, or ulcerative colitis.
Simponi is sometimes used with another medicine called methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Trexall).
Stelara – (ustekinumab) is an immunosuppressant that reduces the effects of a chemical substance in the body that can cause inflammation.
Stelara is used in adults to treat plaque psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis.
Stelara is sometimes given with another medicine called methotrexate.
Stelara is also used to treat Crohn’s disease.
Repatha – (evolocumab) is a human monoclonal antibody. It works by helping the liver reduce levels of “bad” cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, or LDL) circulating in your blood.
Repatha is used together with a low-fat diet and other cholesterol-lowering medications in people with homozygous or heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (inherited types of high cholesterol). These conditions can cause high blood levels of LDL cholesterol, and can also cause plaque to build up inside your arteries.
Repatha is also used to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in people with heart disease.
Tymlos (abaloparatide) is a man-made form of parathyroid hormone that exists naturally in the body. Abaloparatide increases bone mineral density and bone strength, which may prevent fractures.
Tymlos is used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women who have a high risk of bone fracture. Tymlos may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Vemlidy (tenofovir alafenamide) is an antiviral medicine that prevents the hepatitis B virus from multiplying in your body. Tenofovir disoproxil (Viread) is used to treat HIV-1 infection and chronic hepatitis B.
Viread (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate) is an antiviral medicine that prevents human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or hepatitis B from multiplying in your body.
